- To get faster at basic facts
- To get better at solving problems with algorithms
- To write better learning reflections that describe more about what I learned
Here is my plan of how I will achieve these goals.
1. To get faster at basic facts I will practise multiplication and division by:
- using Mathletics 20-30 minutes each day at home (I might not always do it on the weekends)
- using the Tables Mountain daily until I can answer them in 4-5 seconds (then I will do this 1-2 times a week)
- changing the Tables Mountain so I can learn the division problems
- using Maths games on the iPad and graphing my times to see how fast I am getting 2-3 times each week (e.g. Wipeout Wall and Division Descent)
2. To get better at solving problems with algorithms I will:
- complete all my class work and use the instructions and examples in the text book if I get stuck
- write neatly in my maths book so that my teacher can read my work easily
- work with Mum to learn how to do algorithms
- practise solving 5-10 problems with algorithms at home each day (I might not do all of this stuff in the weekend)
3. To write better learning reflections that describe more about what I learned I will:
- search for examples of good learning reflections and check these with my teacher;
- make a learning reflections checklist at home and show it to my teacher;
- use the learning reflections checklist when I am writing my learning reflections.
I am going to give myself until half way through Term 2 to complete these goals.
